kazuya kubo was part of d2, a new york-based design collective working across furniture, interiors, objects and clothing.
his interest in old objects, materials and the marks left by time also found its way into his approach to clothing. after working with vintage garments and garment repair, he began developing dsecond.
the collection takes familiar pieces such as workwear, military clothing and everyday garments, and changes them through proportion, construction and fabric.
the clothes have a quiet character. rather than trying to look new, they allow the material, construction and signs of wear to become part of the garment.
dsecond is an ongoing exploration of familiar clothing, reconsidered through kubo's particular way of seeing materials and form.
